Who can use this feature?
All members can connect their Dropbox account to their Mediagraph account.
Available on all plans
Many organizations use Dropbox to share and store files. Connecting your Dropbox account to your Mediagraph account enables you to seamlessly move files back and forth between the two accounts.
About the Connection
- You can import directly from Dropbox. Mediagraph will preserve the entire folder structure of the imported files.
- Download directly to Dropbox. All account members can connect their Dropbox for direct download.
- Set up watched folders in Dropbox. Any files or folders added to a designated Dropbox folder will be automatically copied to the Mediagraph watched folder in the background. Content Managers and Admins can set up a watched folder connection.
Connect Dropbox to Mediagraph
Follow these steps to connect your Mediagraph account to your Dropbox account.
- In another window, make sure you are logged into Dropbox.
- In Mediagraph, hover over your avatar in the top right corner.
- Click Profile Settings.
- At the bottom of the page, click "Connect Dropbox". The account may connect automatically. If prompted, authorize the connection.
- The Connect Dropbox link in Profile Settings will be replaced by a message telling you which Dropbox account you are connected to.
Import files from Dropbox
Follow these steps to upload files from your Dropbox account into Mediagraph.
- Click the Upload button to see all possible upload paths (options will vary depending on role).
- Select the upload destination.
- Click the Choose Files button.
- Select Dropbox from the dropdown.
- Your Dropbox account will open in a pop-up window. Select the files or folders you would like to import to Mediagraph.
- Click Choose. The window will close and the files will begin uploading.
- Once files have finished uploading to Mediagraph, apply any relevant or required metadata in the upload box.
- Click Submit.
- Click OK.
Download files to Dropbox
You also have the option to download files from Mediagraph directly to your Dropbox account.
- Select the files you want to download.
- Click the Download button.
- In the download dialog, click the Integrations button.
- Select Dropbox from the dropdown.
- In the Dropbox pop-up, choose where you want the files to go. Select Download to Root Folder to put them in the root. To send them to a specific folder, click Choose Sub-Folder on Dropbox. Select the Dropbox folder. Click Choose.
Set up a watched folder
Mediagraph is able to "watch" a folder in Dropbox. This connection (between a single File Vault folder and a single Dropbox folder) will see any new files added to Dropbox and upload them to Mediagraph in the background automatically. Follow the steps below to set up a watched folder connection.
- If you haven't already, make sure you have connected Mediagraph to Dropbox according to the steps above.
- In another tab or window, make sure you are logged into Dropbox.
- In Mediagraph, find the folder in the File Vault you want to connect to Dropbox.
- Click the (i) icon to open the folder info overlay.
- Click Choose on Dropbox.
- In the popover, choose where you Mediagraph to look for new files. Select Download to Root Folder to move all files added to the root. To watch a specific folder, click Choose Sub-Folder on Dropbox. In the Dropbox pop-up window, select the desired Dropbox folder and click Choose. Note that all files added to this folder in the future will be transferred to Mediagraph.
- The Dropbox folder name will now appear in the Folder Info Overlay. Any time a new file is added to the folder in Dropbox, it will be copied to Mediagraph automatically.
