Connect Google Drive to Mediagraph using SFTP

If you have a large number of files stored in Google Drive, you can move them to Mediagraph quickly and securely with Mountain Duck. Mountain Duck is an application that lets you add cloud storage shortcuts to your computer's file browser (e.g. Finder or File Explorer). One of the protocols it can use is SFTP. Mediagraph supports SFTP for all upload pipelines.

Mountain Duck allows you to have multiple connection shortcuts active at once. Using these shortcuts, you can drag and drop entire folder trees from Google Drive to Mediagraph inside your computer's file browser. Using SFTP allows you to preserve folder structure, manage any  interruptions that may occur, and upload directly without having to download a local copy of any of the files.

Connect Mediagraph to Mountain Duck

Mediagraph connects to Mountain Duck using SFTP. In order to upload to Mediagraph, the first thing we need to do is open an SFTP connection in Mountain Duck. If you haven't already installed Mountain Duck, click here to do so before beginning.

1. In your Mediagraph account, make or select the container you want to upload files into. SFTP uploads are supported for all upload pipelines, including Storage Folders uploads, Lightbox uploads, and Group Contributions. In the screenshots below, we'll upload into a new Storage Folder in the File Vault for Google Drive uploads.
2. Click the Upload button in the container's toolbar.
3. Select SFTP Credentials... from the Choose Files dropdown. Mediagraph will generate a set of credentials that can be used to upload directly to this particular container. Leave this window open.
4. Open Mountain Duck.
5. In your computer's toolbar, click the Mountain Duck icon.
6. In the menu that opens, click Open Connection....
7. In the Connection Profiles dropdown at the top of the page, select SFTP (SSH File Transfer Protocol).
8. Copy the SFTP Upload Credentials (from step 3 in Mediagraph) into the corresponding fields. 
9. Set a nickname to help you find the folder later.
10. Click Connect.
11. If prompted, click Allow to approve the connection.

Connect Google Drive to Mountain Duck

Users who already have Google Drive for Desktop installed can skip the steps in this section, and begin uploading from their Drive shortcut according to the following section.

1. In your computer's toolbar, click the Mountain Duck icon.
2. In the menu that opens, click Open Connection....
3. In the Connection Profiles dropdown at the top of the page, select Google Drive.
4. Click Connect.
5. A Google authorization page should open in your web browser. Follow the prompts to select your Google account and authorize the connection.

Upload from Google Drive to Mediagraph

Now that you've opened both connections in Mountain Duck, you should see them in your computer's file browser, under Locations or Favorites. Navigate to the files or folder you want to upload to Mediagraph. Simply drag and drop them onto the Mediagraph shortcut. The upload will begin automatically. You can check progress in the Mountain Duck menu, in your computer's toolbar.
