There are several ways you can add a tag to the Tag Tree. The goal is for it to be easy to add tags to the Tag Tree when you are managing the tag list, working in the tag tree or browsing assets.
It is possible to add a tag to the Tag Tree twice. In this instance, the tag information is the same in both places in the tag tree, and all parent tags will be applied to the asset. For example, if you have the tag "Chicken" under the parent tag "Food", and again under the parent tag "Animals", assets tagged with Chicken will also receive the tags "Food" and "Animals".
